Victoria 1847 Gothic Crown
Stunning Gothic crown described by many as the most beautiful minted English coin, just 8000 of these wonderful coins minted, when you see them like this with outstanding toning you can understand why
Graded by NGC PF61 – As you can see from the pictures a truly great looking coin and in our opinion very conservatively graded, having seen plenty of these graded PF62-63 we were expecting this coin to achieve the same grade when we submitted the coin
The first picture I took before I submitted the coin to NGC as this shows the wonderfull colourful toning
Spink 3883 books at £12500 in UNC bit pointless putting this book price when everybody knows they are selling for large sums of money way above the book price, the last one in this grade that looked similar with the great toning sold for just over £15,000 at auction
The obverse features Queen Victoria ‘Gothic’ type bust and is inscribed Victoria dei gratia britanniar. Reg: f: d. The reverse features crowned cruciform shields with national emblems at the angles (rose for England, shamrock for Ireland, thistle for Scotland). It is inscribed tueatur unita deus anno dom. The edge is inscribed with the regnal year in words
